Life After Caring Coaching Package

You may feel isolated after many years of caring, and wonder if there is any support you can get from others in a similar position who have been through similar challenges in life with caring.

I am Heather Masters and I cared for both of my parents over a four year period while they both faced debilitating illness and until they died.

In my experience, there is very little support available that goes deep in assisting former carers across the full range of challenges they face after their person dies (grief, well being, mental health, practical day-to-day essentials (where to live, work, money etc.) and more).

I created the 6 months coaching package, outlined below, to assist you in moving forward and rebuilding your life the way you want it.

What you'll get:

  • 12 x 1 hour 1-1 coaching sessions (2 calls per month for 6 months)
  • 12 x 10 minute emergency chat/calls (2 calls per month for 6 months)
  • Email and App access
  • The recordings of each session to keep (hosted in your private coaching area on Kajabi).
  • Any relevant workbooks, Tools and techniques to support you going forward, including documents, Audios, reading recommendations and more.
  • Access to the Life After Caring Private Community.

When your caring responsibilities come to an end, it can be hard to know what to do next. You may feel out of your depth and overwhelmed by the practical stuff, while grief and shock may have you stuck and frozen.
Having more time to yourself may give you the opportunity for a much-needed rest, but it can also leave you feeling a bit lost and uncertain, with time on your hands to fill.

If you are used to always thinking about someone else or others, it can be hard to stop and think about what you would like to do now for yourself.

This is an opportunity to receive one-to-one support, personal to you and your needs, timescales, and readiness, to identify your next steps.

The one-to-one sessions are designed to support you in finding your footing, clarity and direction, so that you can take practical steps forward and gain perspective for the next chapter of your life. 
The sessions also aim to:

  • provide guidance and gentle accountability,
  • provide a safe space for you to be, and feel, and be heard,
  • assist you to create your own daily routines that work for you to support you in moving forward,
  • help you build confidence, resilience and assertiveness skills to tackle whatever comes up,
  • guide you toward envisioning and creating your next chapter on your terms.

The Life After Caring Private Community.

You may feel lonely and be looking for someone you can reach out to, just to share and chat and support each other. That's why I created the Life After Caring Community. It gives you the opportunity to speak to other former carers who can relate to and have some experience of what you are going through.

Things I wish I had Known...

As someone who has been in similar shoes when I cared for both of my parents full time, there are simple things I wish I had know at the time that would have meant my recovery process could have been shortened dramatically.

For example, I wish I had found someone to work one-on-one with, who understood enough about what I was going through, yet didn't presume to know specifically my pain, my circumstances. And yet they would challenge me to take steps I didn't take or even know to take on my own, that would have made a big difference to my well-being and to those around me.

Another example is the time it took to come off 'high alert' and stop living like I was expecting an emergency.

An Outline of How the Coaching package works? - this is flexible based on your needs, desires and progress:

We'll be focusing in on what you want to achieve and what you need at this time.

This could be: 

  • working to rebuild your confidence,
  • strategies to support you in coping with grief,
  • help with communication skills and mindset,
  • or working through a variety of other challenges former carers can face.
  • It could simply be an opportunity for you to share and be fully heard in a safe space.

Some former carers find that once they are no longer caring, exhaustion – both physical and emotional – catches up with them and they can feel unwell or run down for a while.

Having someone to call, who has your well-being at heart can make a big difference, especially if you are feeling isolated and/or misunderstood. That's why I have included the emergency call time, and of course, you have my email and an App to contact me on.

Help With Essential Practical Matters.

Even in these dark times there are practical matters that have to be dealt with fairly quickly, such as  dealing with possible changes to your housing situation, your financial situation and work.
I can support you with these by referring you to formal and approved resources that I am aware of, as well as working with you on confidence, budgeting, communication and assertiveness; helping you face the challenges around these areas with strength and poise.

Your Next Chapter.

When you are ready we can begin to focus on the future. Your future. The one you decide you want to create.

It is your opportunity to consciously choose how you want to re-join the world, to envision a new future for yourself that you want to be fully part of.

We can tap into your aliveness and 'Greatness', and identify possibilities that excite you and bring you joy.

You are supported and encouraged to take small, yet significant actions toward you new life so that you create the results that you want for yourself, at your pace.

My goal for you, is to facilitate and support you in a way that nurtures, strengthens and empowers you to write your next chapter on your terms, authentically and with knowing that it's possible for you.

I may sometimes be firm, with my focus on your highest good and your desired outcome.

In your caring role you had to sacrifice a huge part of your life and yourself. You had to adapt virtually everything to ensure you gave the best of you to the person you cared for, perhaps even your identity.

COACHING AGREEMENT

This agreement is between:

 You - The Client

 Heather Masters    The Coach

 I, The Client, fully understand that:

  • The results of the coaching sessions are dependent upon me following the instructions that my Coach gives me during any coaching process aimed at removing any obstacles to my success and achieving. The responsibility for making the process work is solely mine, since no one else can do it for me.
  • I understand that my Coach is a Certified Trainer and Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming and Time Line Therapy™; I agree to allow my Coach to guide me through any processes relevant to me achieving the goals I have set.
  • The results of the coaching sessions are dependent upon me completing whatever homework and tasks my Coach gives me.
  • The results of the coaching sessions are dependent on me focusing on what I want rather than what I don’t want.
  • I understand that my Coach is not a mind reader and cannot assist me in resolving issues/blocks to success that I do not share with my Coach, nor achieving goals I do not express to my Coach.
  • Coaching in no way replaces a diagnosis or advice from a medical doctor or psychiatrist.
  • I acknowledge that I know of no reason, medical, psychological or otherwise, why I should not undertake coaching. I agree that I will inform the Coach if this changes during the coaching relationship.
  • I will give my Coach at least 48 hours’ notice of cancellation; otherwise I will pay for the session cancelled. I understand that my Coach will give me a free session if I’m not given 48 hours notice of cancellation.  (Genuine medical emergencies excepted for either party)

Agreement

On this basis I agree to commit to working with my Coach for twelve sessions (2 per month for 6 months).
